Recently I saw a news program in which they were showing we Indian honk a lot while driving.
But I was disappointed that they didn’t research the “Why” part? I did and these are the findings:
- People walk on the road, as footpath is for sleeping.
- Apart from people even cow, dog, sheep and pigs walk on the road.
- There is no speed limit. You can drive at any speed from 0 to 150 kmph at your own risk.
- No lane system. An auto wala while waiting at signal can suddenly change his mind to take a left turn even though he is on extreme right side of the road.
- People can’t stand inside the bus stop which is always full with something (people to cow dung). They wait on road.
- At a 5 ft long bus stop, with out shoulder, located just after signal, some 5 buses need to stop, over take each other etc etc. The driver can do anything he wants.
- Private vans and buses can stop anywhere anytime to overload their vehicle.
I don’t want to complain more but all I want to say is there are reasons, why we honk.
